Edwards and O'Neil represent the initial names in the frame to replace the former manager as manager of Wolves.

Pereira was dismissed on the weekend after the squad's ten-game without a victory start to the Premier League season.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have previous associations to the team - are among the names to be evaluated by the Wolves ownership.

The manager is presently at another club, which would pose a potential obstacle to his appointment at Molineux.

Nevertheless the former Luton Town manager - who made more than 100 of appearances for Wolves during his playing career - is said to be a strong contender for the vacancy.

The mid-career manager is said to have support from the Wolves board as they start the search of hiring a new manager.

O'Neil is also appearing as a unexpected contender, although he would be a shock appointment considering he was released by Wolves in December last year.

The ex- West Ham United player is out of work meaning the club would not be required to provide any compensation.
