Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of Rice specifically in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice directly, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

Rice missed the first six games of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
